【摘要】:Thistestmethodwasdevelopedformeasuringtritiuminwatertodetermineiftheconcentrationexceedstheregulatorystatutesofdrinkingwater.Thistestmethodalsoisapplicableforthedeterminationoftritiumconcentrationinwaterasrequiredbytechnicalspecificationsgoverningtheoperationsofnuclearpowerfacilities.Withsuitablecountingtechnique,samplesize,andcountingtimeadetectionlimitoflessthan37Bq/L(1000pCi/L)isattainablebyliquidscintillation.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftritiumindrinkingwaterbyliquidscintillationcountingofthetritiumbetaparticleactivity.1.2Thistestmethodisusedsuccessfullywithdrinkingwater.Itistheuser''sresponsibilitytoensurethevalidityofthistestmethodforuntestedwatermatrices.1.3Thetritiumconcentrations,whichcanbemeasuredbythistestmethodutilizingcurrentlyavailableliquidscintillationinstruments,rangefromlessthan0.037Bq/mL(1pCi/mL)to555Bq/mL(15000pCi/mL)fora10-mLsamplealiquot.Highertritiumconcentrationscanbemeasuredbydilutingorusingsmallersamplealiquots,orboth.1.4ThemaximumcontaminantlevelfortritiumindrinkingwaterasgivenbytheUnitedStatesEnvironmentalProtectionAgency(U.S.EPA)NationalInterimPrimaryDrinkingWaterRegulations(NIPDWR)is0.740Bq/mL(20pCi/mL).TheNIPDWRlistsarequireddetectionlimitfortritiumindrinkingwaterof0.037Bq/mL(1pCi/mL),meaningthatdrinkingwatersupplies,whererequired,shouldbemonitoredfortritiumatasensitivityof0.037Bq/mL(1pCi/mL).InAppendixX1,EqX1.3isgivenfordeterminingthenecessarycountingtimetomeettherequiredsensitivityfordrinkingwatermonitoring.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
