【摘要】:ThispartofIEC60793establishesuniformrequirementsformeasuringthemodefielddiameter(MFD)ofopticalfibre,therebyassistingintheinspectionoffibresandcablesforcommercialpurposes.TheMFDrepresentsameasureofthetransverseextentoftheelectromagneticfieldintensityofthemodeinafibrecrosssection,anditisdefinedfromthefar-fieldintensitydistributionasaratioofintegralsknownasthePetermannIIdefinition.Seeequation(1).ThedefinitionsofMFDarestrictlyrelatedtothemeasurementconfigurations.Themathematicalequivalenceofthesedefinitionsresultsfromtransformrelationshipsbetweenmeasurementresultsobtainedbydifferentimplementationssummarizedinfigure1asfollows:FourmethodsaredescribedformeasuringMFD:-methodA:directfar-fieldscan;-methodB:variableapertureinthefarfield;-methodC:near-fieldscan;-methodD:bi-directionalbackscatterusinganopticaltimedomainreflectometer(OTDR).AllfourmethodsapplytoallcategoriesoftypeBsingle-modefibreshowninIEC60793-2andoperatingnear1310nmor1550nm.MethodDisnotrecommendedforthemeasurementoffibresofunknowntypeordesign.Informationcommontoallfourmethodsiscontainedinclauses1to8,andinformationpertainingtoeachindividualmethodappearsinannexesA,B,CandD,respectively.
