【摘要】:Thissamplingpracticeisusefulforconvertingchips,turnings,andwirestakenfromingotsorothersolidmaterialsintoahomogeneoussolidsamplesuitablefordirectexcitationonanopticalemissionorX-rayfluorescencespectrometer.Theresultantbuttonmayitselfbechippedtoprovidesamplesforplasmaemission,atomicabsorption,andwetchemicalanalysis.Thispracticehasbeenusedextensivelyforthepreparationofzirconium,zirconiumalloy,titanium,andtitaniumalloymaterials,andisapplicabletootherreactive,refractory,ferrousandnonferrousalloys,suchascobalt,cobaltalloys,columbium(niobium),nickel,nickelalloys,stainlesssteels,tantalum,toolsteels,andtungsten.1.1Thispracticecoversthepreparationofsolidsamplesofreactiveandrefractorymetalsandalloysbyelectricarcremelting.Thesamplesformeltingmaybeintheformofchips,turnings,wires,andsponge.Powderedmetalsneedtobecompactedbeforemelting.1.1.1Thispracticeisalsosuitableforpreparationofsolidsamplesofothermetals,suchassteels,stainlesssteels,toolsteels,nickel,nickelalloys,cobalt,andcobaltalloysbyelectricarcremelting.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecifichazardstatementsaregiveninSection9.
